end of 2025 ask game
found this ask game on tumblr so i thought i'd take a crack at it :)
- Song of the year? attacking vertical by femtanyl, with 101 listens lol
- Album of the year? the deltarune chapters 3+4 ost (298 listens). not counting that, it's so much (for) stardust by fall out boy (209 listens).
- Favorite musical artist / group you started listening to this year? TWRP ! i've known about them for a while because of their collaborations with ninja sex party, but i haven't listened to their own music until this year. i started with A Human's Touch and All Night Forever because it blew up in fandom spaces (especially in the deltarune fandom) and i've listened to the rest of their discography since!
- Movie of the year? Colorful Stage! The Movie: A Miku Who Can't Sing has been at the back of mind ever since i watched it in april. i've listened to the soundtrack and a bunch of DECO*27's music plus a bunch of other vocaloid music. it just made me really grateful for music in general, and for my friends who've stuck by me. it hit me really hard because around that time of year, i was feeling really estranged by my irl friends, and seeing that movie in theaters was the last thing i did with my irl friends from a particular club. i felt so alienated that i ending up leaving and joining another club by someone who was part of both clubs, and i've been a lot happier since. through the whole experience, A Miku Who Can't Sing has been really close to my heart.
- TV show of the year? LOST !!!! 2 of my good friends and i have been watching it together throughout the year and we've managed to get to season 2 episode 20. i really enjoy the show itself, plus the experience of actively watching something with friends. we've been collectively thirsting after and hating on characters, and talking about the writing in depth, and theorizing about the plot. it's been really fun and i'm really glad that we've managed to do something together that feels like it's pulling us together :)
- Game of the year? slime rancher 2! i first bought and played it back when it was pre-release, and now it's in full release and i've been playing it a lot in december. i honestly enjoyed it more than the first game because the science mechanics felt simpler and more approachable than they were in the first game. it's also just really cute and relaxing
- Best month for you this year? probably june! the first week of it was in Poland, and i spent the rest of the month adjusting to life back home after 3 weeks. i was really excited to hang out with my friends again, and in the comfort of air conditioning and big water bottles (i was SO dehydrated in Poland because my grandparents only have really small cups, so i just used a water bottle that i kept from the airport to drink out of LMAO)
- Something that made you cry this year? organic chemistry. chemistry on its own makes me feel stupid, but organic chemistry was a little bit more attainable to me, which made me even more frustrated when i couldn't understand a lot of it. plus my ADHD made it really difficult to get anything done. i was stuck in ADHD paralysis and executive dysfunction for a lot of the fall 2025 semester and it was eating away at me by the time midterms rolled around, and i was running on empty by the week of finals. it's been really nice to finally have a break a be home for about a month.
- Something you want to do again next year? volunteer! my university requires a certain number of volunteer hours to graduate, and this year i got 10 hours from pulling weeds and cleaning up around a wildlife rehab center + from picking up trash around my campus. it was a bit nerve-wracking to do it the first time, but it's surprisingly relaxing and i feel really proud of myself for every piece of trash i pick up.
- Talk about a new friend you made this year i made some new friends in my school's improv club! i knew them both prior to joining, and i met the treasurer specifically through sitting together in invertebrate zoology. i still feel a bit awkward going, but it took me a while to gather up the courage to participate in some improv games and i've been on stage twice now! it's nothing impressive but it's fun and i really enjoy going!
- How was your birthday this year? really nice! i went to a lil local restaurant and had yummy shrimp tacos and a cute lil fruit tart! it was just with my mom and my younger brother so it was nice and chill :)
- Favorite book you read this year?
- What’s a bad habit you picked up this year? scrolling a LOT, mostly on tiktok. i tried to justify it with the idea that i'd save tiktoks to use for compilation videos (i did that first when tiktok was supposed to shut down in the US and the video has now accumulated 34k views so i was motivated to make more) but then youtube started rolling out ai age verification and ai video smoothing without a creator's consent, so now i'm having second thoughts. i saved a lot of tiktoks before i deleted my account so i'm probably gonna make more, but not for a while.
- A memorable meal this year? the Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen Key West Shrimp & Chicken, which was my first time trying shrimp since i was a kid who grew to dislike popcorn. it wasn't my favorite shrimp meal, but a good lil introduction since it comes with a chicken breast and a few pieces of shrimp i was ready to offer to my mom if i didn't like it lol. i did like it, but now i know i like shrimp tacos more lmaooo
- What’re you excited about for next year? catching up on my to-be-read and to-be-watched and to-be-played lists! i wanna broaden my horizons and spend less time on youtube specifically, and have more opportunities to connect with people because then i'll finally know some of the references they make lol
- What’s something you learned this year? being consistent and managing my time is HUGE. i need to focus on keeping my momentum going and focusing on the fact that i make a repeated effort, and not that my productivity is inconsistent day-to-day. it's been a common occurrence that i work hard for a whole day and then i burn myself out for the next 2-3 days, so i want to prevent that by anticipating when i'm mentally spent, and giving myself something to look forward to help keep me motivated and ensure that i have downtime before i go to bed.
- Favorite place you visited this year? Poland! it felt a bit isolating to not understand enough of the language to hold a conversation, but i still enjoyed the vibe. there was one night where i hung out with my cousin and we had some vodka together while playing rummikub, and it was really nice! i also greatly enjoyed the scenery and the insects i logged on iNat :3
- If you could send a message to yourself back on the first day of the year, what would it be? to take what i learn and move on. i have a bad habit of letting stuff fester, and 2025 TESTED me.
- Did you keep any New Year’s Resolutions? i've stuck to my resolutions to get offline/less dependent on my phone! it's been a bit of a give and take, but i've definitely made progress. staying in a rural town in Poland for 3 weeks was a great jump in the deep end, and having an e-reader is super nice! i've also deleted a lot of apps i barely use, or replaced them with their browser version so it's a bit harder to use and i don't want to use it as much. i also got a launcher that makes my phone into a giant list of my apps so i'm not tempted by colorful icons, which has also been pretty effective and i don't get distracted as much. overall, i made solid progress!
